Monster Hunter Wilds Minimum Required Specs Will Be Lowered

Capcom recently shared a pre-release update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console performance, weapon balancing, and a significant reduction in minimum PC specifications. The video update, featuring director Yuya Tokuda, followed the conclusion of the Open Beta Test (OBT).

Console Performance Goals Unveiled

The update confirmed performance targets for consoles. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer two modes: "Prioritize Graphics" (4K resolution at 30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p at 60fps). Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p/30fps. Improvements, including a fix for a rendering bug in the framerate mode, were highlighted. While a PS5 Pro patch is confirmed for launch, offering enhanced visuals, specific details remain undisclosed.

Potential Second Open Beta Test

A second OBT is being considered, primarily to give players who missed the first opportunity a chance to experience the game. However, this potential second test will not include the improvements and adjustments detailed in the recent update; these will only be present in the full release.

Further refinements include adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon balancing updates focusing on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
