Due to unforeseen technical difficulties, the highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed. While Blizzard initially aimed for a launch before the end of January 14th, 2025, a revised launch time remains unannounced.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was slated to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, resulting in a delay beyond the initially extended eight-hour downtime.
Plunderstorm Launch Window:
In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.
The second iteration of Plunderstorm was to include new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may have contributed to the unexpected issues.
Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops promotion remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to qualify.
