Jason Momoa Teases Lobo’s Debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: 'We Look Pretty Dead On'

by Jason Mar 21,2025

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the previous DC Extended Universe, will bring his unique brand of charisma to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) as the iconic Lobo in the upcoming film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in 2026. This interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, a last survivor of the planet Czarnia, possesses superhuman strength and immortality, making him a formidable character. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen and first appearing in Omega Men #3 (1983), Lobo is a fan-favorite known for his brutal efficiency and distinctive appearance.

Momoa, who has openly expressed his admiration for the character, calling Lobo his favorite comic book character, has hinted at what fans can expect in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In a conversation with ScreenRant, he revealed that while Lobo's appearance will be impactful, his screen time will be relatively brief, emphasizing that the film primarily focuses on Supergirl's story. He teased a striking visual resemblance between himself and the character, highlighting Lobo's rough-and-tumble personality and a particularly cool motorcycle.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

The film, based on Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel, will follow Supergirl (Milly Alcock) as she assists a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), in seeking revenge for her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem (Matthias Schoenaerts). The supporting cast includes David Krumholtz as Zor-El and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the second film in the revamped DCU, following James Gunn's Superman and preceding the Clayface movie in September 2026.
