REPO's Overcharge and Scaling to be Majorly Tweaked, Developer Announces

by Jonathan May 13,2025

The developers of REPO are set to enhance the game's experience by implementing significant changes to its Overcharge mechanic and difficulty scaling. These updates, informed by valuable fan feedback from the recent open beta, promise to add depth and excitement to the gameplay. Let's dive into the details of what's coming to REPO.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

During the open beta, REPO's developer, Semiwork, took note of the game's Overcharge mechanic, which has now been earmarked for a major overhaul. Overcharge empowers players to counter their foes by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this isn't a free-for-all action; players must manage an overcharge meter, as filling it to the brink results in an explosive consequence.

Originally, the Overcharge feature was accessible right from the start, but the developers have decided to introduce it at level 10. This change is part of a broader plan to introduce new mechanics that increase difficulty every 10 levels, starting at levels 20, 30, and so forth. Overcharge is just the beginning of these progressively challenging elements.

These new mechanics will be intricately linked to the game’s lore. As Semiwork's team explained, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

In an effort to gather firsthand player feedback, Semiwork developers, including Pontus Sundstrom, participated in random matches during the open beta. Sundstrom expressed his delight in witnessing players enjoy the new features, saying, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further shared, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the wealth of community feedback collected, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO in future updates. Players can anticipate more exciting developments on the horizon, as the developers have promised to reveal additional information soon.
