Originally conceived as the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a major title under Sony's China Hero Project. Yang Bing, now the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his vision grow from a solo endeavor to a widely recognized game. The journey of Lost Soul Aside has been marked by significant milestones, including its trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, which has fueled excitement and anticipation among fans.

In a recent interview with IGN, Yang Bing discussed the extensive development process of Lost Soul Aside. The game has been described as a thrilling blend of Final Fantasy-style characters and Devil May Cry-inspired combat, a concept that captured attention when Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.

The protagonist, Kesar, wields a versatile shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch between different playstyles. Alongside Kesar is a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid in battle. Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from its predecessors, focusing on aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, all set within large-scale boss fights. The game's narrative weaves a sci-fi premise with contemporary aesthetics, taking players across multiple dimensions. While the trailers offer glimpses into the game's world, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
