In a recent interview, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, former lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, discussed CD Projekt Red's initial concerns about integrating a complex narrative into an open-world environment.

Tomaszkiewicz noted the bold ambition of merging expansive storytelling techniques, typically found in linear RPGs like The Witcher 2, with the open-world format. This innovative approach, initially met with internal skepticism, ultimately resulted in the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3.
Now leading Rebel Wolves, Tomaszkiewicz is spearheading the development of The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark fantasy RPG set in an alternate medieval Eastern Europe. Vampires are central to this PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S title. While a release date remains unconfirmed, a gameplay showcase is anticipated this summer.
